Kentarou Miura was a Japanese mangaka. He drew his first manga at the age of 10 for a school newspaper.
His best-known work is the dark fantasy manga “Berserk”, published from 1989 onwards, which is one of the most successful manga ever, with over 50 million copies sold worldwide. This was adapted as an anime in 1997, 2012 and 2016 and has been the inspiration for numerous other works, including “Final Fantasy VII”, “Devil May Cry” and “Dark Souls”. Since 2006, Berserk has been repeatedly paused and published very irregularly.
Miura died of an aortic dissection at the age of 54. His main work Berserk remained unfinished.
