Five New Licenses by Discotek Media

| Iria: Zeiram The Animation The first one that has been announced is Iria: Zeiram The Animation, which was produced by Ashi Productions as an OVA in summer and fall 1994. The OVA was released some years ago by Central Park and Media Blasters in the USA. Tetsurou Amino directed the anime and also created the script together with Naruhisa Arakawa, which is based on the original work by Keita Amamiya, who created the script for the Live Action Movie Zeiram from 1991. Masakuza Katsura worked on the character designs.    The video quality complete animation series will be remastered, with english dub, japanese dub and english subtitles. BlurbIria and her brother, Glen, are a pair of young bounty hunters. Dispatched on a standard rescue mission, the duo discovers a terrifying secret. Zeiram, a deadly life form, has been imported in order to develop a lethal bio-weapon. Now, this alien juggernaut is loose and ready to wreak havoc on the unsuspecting populace. How can a novice bounty hunter possibly defeat an unstoppable beast like Zeiram? |
| Yowamushi Pedal – Season 1 & 2 The second license, which was accquired is Yowamushi Pedal. The first season ran from september 2013 until july 2014 and was produced by TMS Entertainment. The second season has been running since october 2014. The anime is based on the manga by Wataru Watanabe. Osamu Nabeshima directed the anime at TMS Entertainment, while Reiko Yoshida created the script and Takahiko Yoshida the character designs.    Discothek MediaOnoda Sakamichi is a rather timid, anime-loving first-year student at Sohoku High School. Upon entering high school, he tried to join the anime research club, but after meeting Imaizumi Shunsuke, a renowned cyclist since middle school, and Naruko Shoukichi, who swept the Kansai cycling championship, he ended up joining the competitive cycling club. Discothek Media plans to release the anime with japanese dub and english subtitles. Crunchyroll released both seasons as simulcast. |
| The Little Mermaid (Andersen Douwa: Ningyo Hime) The third license is a classic Toei production, the movie Little Mermaid from 1975, which is based on the original story from Hans Christian Andersen. The anime was directed by Tomoharu Katsumata, Shingo Araki created the character design.    ANNMarina, the most beautiful mermaid in the royal Merman family, is curious about the human world. One day, she sees a handsome prince on a boat. Suddenly, a storm comes up, throwing him into the sea. Marina saves her handsome prince and swims him to the shore. Marina falls deeply in love and desperatly wants to become a human. Despite the hazards, ahe is willing to risk it all for love. Discothek Media planned to release the movie with original japanese dub and english subtitle, and also include the rarely heard english dub from the past. |
| Go Nagai World (CB chara Go Nagai World) The fourth license, which Discothek Media accuired, is for all Go Nagai fans, the three episode OVA from 1991 by Bandai Visual and Dynamic Planning. Umanosuke Iida directed the animation, while Kazuo Komatsubara created the character design.    Discothek MediaVarious characters from Go Nagai works including Devil Man, Mazinger, and Violence Jack, become trapped in a parody world where they all be come super deformed. They get trapped in this mishmash, fighting each other and are trying to figure a way back to their own world. Discothek Media planned to release the OVA with original japanese dub and english subtitles. |
| Lupin the 3rd Jigen's Gravestone (Lupin the IIIrd: Jigen Daisuke no Bohyou) The fifth acquisition is the anime movie Lupin the 3rd Jigen's Gravestone, a spin-off of the anime series Lupin the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine. The movie was directed by Takeshi Koike, who also created the character design, at TMS Entertainment. Yuuya Takahashi wrote the script for the tv series and for the movie.    Discotek MediaLupin and Jigen infiltrate East Doroa to capture the secret treasure Little Comet. Queen Malta, a singer from East Doroa, was just assassinated in neighboring West Doroa, resulting in a tense situation at the border. The duo successfully steal the Little Comet, but a sniper tries to take out Jigen during their getaway. Jigen faces a powerful foe named Yael Okuzaki, an assassin who prepares graves for his targets before executing his kills. It is said that no one has survived after Yael Okuzaki makes a grave for that target. This will the first title from Discotek Media, which will get a completely new english dub. They will release the movie on DVD and Blu-ray with japanese dub, english dub and english subtitles. |
