Shannon, a servant of the Ushiromiya family, has not exactly made things easy for herself when it comes to love: when George Ushiromiya visits the island of Rokkenjima with his parents, she develops feelings for him of all people. His mother, Eva, is not at all pleased about this, after all, Shannon’s status is definitely not appropriate, especially since she has long since made marriage plans for her son – to his dismay, of course. Shannon’s desperation causes the legendary witch Beatrice to appear and make a deal with her: if Shannon smashes a mirror in the island’s shrine, her relationship with George shall flourish.

The annual meeting of the entire family is also on the agenda, and this time, it’s about the inheritance the family patriarch Kinzo, who is apparently seriously ill, will probably soon leave behind. The witch Beatrice, on the other hand, is pursuing her own plans, so not only Shannon’s fate but that of the entire family will change forever …

Shannon, eine Bedienstete der Familie Ushiromiya, hat sich beim Thema Liebe nicht gerade leicht gemacht: Als George Ushiromiya mit seinen Eltern auf die Insel Rokkenjima besucht, entwickelt sie ausgerechnet für ihn Gefühle. Seine Mutter Eva ist darüber gar nicht erfreut, schließlich ist Shannon vom Stand her überhaupt nicht angemessen, zumal sie für ihren Sohn längst Heiratspläne geschmiedet – natürlich zu dessen Verdruss. Shannons Verzweiflung bewirkt, dass die legendäre und von so vielen als Gerücht abgetane Hexe Beatrice erscheint und einen Deal mit ihr abschließt: Zerschlägt Shannon einen bestimmten Spiegel im Schrein der Insel, so soll ihr Verhältnis mit George von Erfolg gekrönt sein.

Auch das jährliche Treffen der gesamten Familie steht an, und diesmal geht es um das gewaltige Erbe, das der offenbar schwer erkrankte Familienpatriarch Kinzo wohl bald hinterlassen wird. Die Hexe Beatrice hingegen verfolgt ihre ganz eigenen Pläne, sodass sich nicht nur Shannons Schicksal, sondern das der gesamten Familie für immer verändern wird …
