Descripción

Animation Digital Network is a French company that operates the streaming portal of the same name. The company is headquartered in Paris.

The portal was created as Anime Digital Network in September 2013 through the merger of KZPlay, which was operated by Kazé, and Genzai from Kana Home Video. The joint portal aimed to publish Japanese and Franco-Belgian animated series. Some anime were released as simulcasts two weeks after their first broadcast on Japanese television, which was intended to increase awareness of the two French TV channels J-One and Mangas. The portal’s website went online on October 16, 2013, and DRM-free downloads of some series were also offered on the site from October 2014.

The portal was restructured in January 2017. Among other things, new simulcast episodes were published just a few hours after their broadcast in Japan and a lot of content was dubbed into French. At the beginning of November 2017, the video portal was registered as a company in the French company register.

The ownership of the brand changed in September 2019 when Crunchyroll became the largest shareholder of Viz Media Europe SAS (today: Crunchyroll S.A.S.), the parent company of Kazé. On July 27, 2022, Crunchyroll parted ways with Anime Digital Network as a shareholder, allowing Média-Participations to take over the company behind the portal. Média-Participations is the parent company of Citel, to which Kana Home Video belongs. In the course of the separation from Crunchyroll, the company was renamed Animation Digital Network.
