Descripción
Yamato Video is an Italian anime distribution company founded in Milan in 1991. Over the years, the company has distributed numerous titles, initially in VHS format and later on DVD.
From 2000 to 2004, it relied on Medusa Home Entertainment for the wholesale distribution of anime.
On September 10, 2013, the Yamato Animation channel was set up on YouTube, through which the company releases anime series both in Italian dubbing and in the original language with subtitles. On May 13, 2015, the channel was also extended to the Dailymotion platform to publish anime with sensitive content.
On December 4, 2015, the opening of PlayYamato was announced, a channel of the paid platform GazzaPlay (hosted on the website of La Gazzetta dello Sport), which offers numerous series from the company’s catalogue, many of them in preview or simulcast. After less than a year, however, the GazzaPlay service was shut down again.
On December 20, 2021, Yamato Video launched Anime Generation, a channel available on the Prime Video platform where, in addition to providing series from the company’s catalogue, new series, both simulcast and non-simulcast, will be distributed along with new dubbing.
