Descripción
Misaki Ayuzawa is one of the few female students at Seika High School and the head of the student committee, where she is the only female member. Not long ago, Seika was still an all-boys school, and the reputation of the school suffered accordingly, making female students hesitant to visit the school for the time being. However, with Misa-chan’s election as student president, the school’s reputation suddenly changed, bringing the current proportion of female students up to 20 % thanks to Misaki and her boundless ambition.
Whatever she sets her mind to, she follows through with. In order to stand up to the rampant mob of her male classmates, Misaki worked hard on herself, studied a lot, got on well with all the teachers at school, completed hours of strength training and attended training lessons in aikido herself in order to stand up to the physically stronger men. Since then, Misaki has been known as a true man-eater who can put any classmate in his place without exception and send an ice-cold shiver down their spine if they displease her.
In terms of character, Misaki is extremely multifaceted. Her unrestrained ambition and authoritative nature are rooted deep within her, which is driven solely by the task of protecting the defenceless, vulnerable girls around her from the encroachments of the male world. She could almost be described as violent and bossy in how she treats her classmates. Good examples are the students Ryuunosuke, Ikuto and Naoya, referred to by Misaki as the “trio of idiots”, having to listen to her nagging daily. For example, she confiscates everything that doesn’t fit into the school routine, especially if it’s men’s magazines. However, when Misaki is with her two friends, Shizuko Kaga and Sakura Hanazono, her family or other female beings, the situation is completely different. At such times, Misaki is extremely nice, friendly, considerate, and even cheerful, laid-back and happy.
This behaviour is something she has to display, rather by necessity, even in her small part-time job at the “Maid Latte” café. As her family has fallen on hard times financially after her father left them, Misa-chan works as a waitress in Satsuki Hyoudou’s maid café. This is the only job that allows her to earn enough to support her mother and not have to neglect her activities as student president and her school performance. Misa-chan masters the daily routine of a maid at the café in an almost professional manner. She is polite, friendly and attentive – even to men – making her otherwise domineering manner truly unnoticeable. Nevertheless, Misaki fears that her reputation as a reliable student representative could suffer enormously if the rumour gets around that she works as a maid in a cosplay café. Thus, she attempts to keep this a secret by any means necessary.
Ultimately, Misaki’s relationship with Takumi Usui is particularly interesting. Misaki’s grades are top-notch; she is among the absolute, undisputed top students at her school. Only Takumi achieves even better results in the midterm exams, which, of course, makes Misaki’s pride suffer. His extremely cool demeanour and his great popularity with both male and female classmates constantly annoy Misaki. When he is the first to meet her by chance at her secret work and then decides to visit her every day at the Maid Latte and tease her with his presence, things start to bubble under Misaki’s otherwise hard surface. Yet time and again, Takumi comes to her rescue at crucial moments and actively supports her whenever she needs it. Whether Misaki will be able to resist his amicable charm and maintain her hard shell remains to be seen.
