“Tokyo Ghoul √A” seamlessly continues the previous season, but takes a path that differs from the manga.

After Ken Kaneki is kidnapped by the ghoul Jason, the other members of Café Antik set out to save him. At the same time, the CCG starts a large-scale offensive on the base of the Phoenix Tree, where Kaneki is being held captive. While Touka has to face her brother Ayato in battle after a short while, the CCG sees itself confronted with a more dangerous foe – the ghoul “Owl”, who was the reason for a painful loss for the CCG in the past. Meanwhile, Kaneki manages to successfully free himself from captivity and to beat Jason. But after the battles are over, he decides not to return to Antik, but to join the Phoenix Tree …
»Tokyo Ghoul √A« knüpft nahtlos an die vorherige Staffel an, schlägt jedoch einen Weg ein, der sich von der Manga-Vorlage unterscheidet.

Nachdem Ken Kaneki vom Ghul Jason entführt würde, machen sich die übrigen Mitglieder des Cafés Antik auf, ihn zu retten. Zeitgleich startet das CCG eine großangelegte Offensive auf die Basis des Phönixbaums, in der auch Kaneki gefangen gehalten wird. Während Touka sich nach kurzer Zeit ihrem Bruder Ayato im Kampf stellen muss, sieht sich das CCG mit einem äußert gefährlichen Gegner konfrontiert: dem Ghoul »Eule«, der dem CCG in der Vergangenheit eine schmerzliche Niederlage einbrachte. Unterdessen kann sich Kaneki erfolgreich aus seiner Gefangenschaft befreien und Jason besiegen. Doch nachdem die Kämpfe beendet sind, beschließt er, nicht zum Antik zurückzukehren, sondern sich dem Phönixbaum anzuschließen …

I ghoul dell’Anteiku invadono la sede di Aogiri per salvare Kaneki, dalle torture a cui è sottoposto. A causa dell’alto livello di stress, questi scatena un’energia tanto potente da sconfiggere Yamori. Kaneki decide allora che, per diventare ancora più forte, è tempo di unirsi a Aogiri e lasciare l’Anteiku. Nel frattempo anche gli Investigatori della CCG fanno le loro mosse per raccogliere informazioni su quel giovane ghoul con un occhio bendato…
