Gakuen Alice (2004)

Mikan Sakura, a friendly but slightly naive girl, grows up in a small village in the middle of nowhere. After some time, she meets the girl Hotaru Imai in her class, and the two become best friends. However, Hotaro suddenly transfers to another school in Tokyo without any warning. Mikan is heartbroken! She doesn’t see why they should live apart and packs her seven things to follow her friend.

Once in Tokyo, however, Mikan discovers that Hotaru’s school is a boarding school – better known as “Alice Academy” or “Gakuen Alice”, a school for children with exceptional talents. “Alice” is an inborn gift, and people with it are strictly protected by the state, which is the mission of Alice Academy. As luck is on Mikan’s side, she is also promptly enrolled at the elite school by the handsome teacher Narumi, whom she meets outside the academy. All the students there have special, bizarre abilities. Will Mikan get along at her new school … and find out what her own Alice is?

Mikan Sakura, ein freundliches, aber leicht naives Mädchen, wächst in einem kleinen Dorf mitten im Nirgendwo auf. Nach einiger Zeit trifft sie auf das Mädchen Hotaru Imai in ihrer Klasse und die beiden werden beste Freunde. Allerdings wechselt Hotaro plötzlich, ohne jegliche Vorwarnung, an eine andere Schule in Tokio. Mikan ist todunglücklich! Sie sieht nicht ein, dass beide getrennt leben sollen und packt ihre sieben Sachen, um ihrer Freundin zu folgen.

In Tokio angekommen, muss Mikan jedoch feststellen, dass es sich bei Hotarus Schule um ein Internat handelt – besser bekannt als »Alice Akademie« oder »Gakuen Alice«, das für Kinder mit außergewöhnlichen Begabungen ist. »Alice« ist eine angeborene Gabe und Leute mit einer solchen werden vom Staat strengstens geschützt – die Hauptaufgabe der Alice Akademie. Da das Glück auf Mikans Seite ist, wird sie auch prompt vom gutaussehenden Lehrer Narumi an der Eliteschule angemeldet, den sie vor der Akademie trifft. Alle dortigen Schüler haben ganz besondere, bizarre Fähigkeiten. Wird Mikan an ihrer neuen Schule zurechtkommen … und herausfinden, was ihr eigenes Alice ist?
