Uchuu Senkan Yamato 2199: Hoshi-Meguru Hakobune (2014)

After the Yamato was able to thwart the plans of the leader of the Garmillas Empire in a dramatic battle and subsequently obtained the technology to save its home, Earth, the Earthlings’ spaceship is finally on its way home. Thanks to the peace agreement, there is also a certain calm on the ship – until the Yamato suddenly comes under fire from forces of the Gatlantis Empire.

Until recently, Gatlantis was under the Garmillas’ thumb, though now Governor General Goran Dagam’s goal is to defeat the Yamato and capture its wave-motion technology to help his empire achieve superiority. However, the battle that ensues is to the detriment of both sides. Eventually, the Yamato has no choice but to warp, stranding it in an unexplored region of space.

The ship is brought to a planet by an unknown force. Soon the crew is forced to explore its jungle-like surface on foot, where they discover something is amiss because the jungle resembles the Amazon on Earth. After following a Garmillas SOS signal, the crew finds the supposed remains of the Yamato at its source, which is said to have been there for over 200 years. However, this is only the prelude to a series of incidents and phenomena that do not seem to follow the usual laws of space and time …

Nachdem die Yamato in einem dramatischen Gefecht die Pläne des Anführers des Imperiums Garmillas vereiteln konnte und anschließend die Technologie zur Rettung ihrer Heimat, der Erde, erhalten hat, befindet sich das Raumschiff der Erdenbewohner endlich auf dem Heimweg. Dank der Friedensvereinbarung herrscht auch auf dem Schiff eine gewisse Ruhe – bis die Yamato plötzlich unter Beschuss gerät, und zwar von Streitkräften des Imperiums Gatlantis.

Bis vor kurzem stand Gatlantis noch unter der Garmillas’ Knute, doch nun ist Generalgouverneur Goran Dagams Ziel, die Yamato zu bezwingen und deren Wave-Motion-Technologie zu erbeuten, um seinem Reich zur Überlegenheit zu verhelfen. Das entstehende Gefecht verläuft für beide Seiten aber eher nachteilig; die Yamato hat letztendlich keine andere Wahl, als einen Warp durchzuführen. Dadurch stranden sie in einer offenbar nicht erkundeten Region des Weltraums.

Das Schiff wird durch eine unbekannte Macht zu einem Planeten gebracht; schon bald ist die Besatzung gezwungen, dessen dschungelartige Oberfläche zu Fuß zu erkunden. Dort stellen sie fest, dass es hier nicht mit rechten Dingen zugehen kann: Der Dschungel hat auffallende Ähnlichkeiten mit dem Amazonas auf der Erde, und nachdem die Crew einem Garmillas-SOS-Signal gefolgt sind, finde sie an dessen Ursprung die vermeintlichen Überreste der Yamato, die dort schon seit über 200 Jahren liegen soll. Das ist jedoch nur der Auftakt zu einer Reihe von Vorfällen und Phänomenen, die den üblichen Gesetzen von Raum und Zeit nicht so recht zu folgen scheinen …
