The Fantastic Adventures of Unico (1981)

The little unicorn Unico is a kind-hearted and wondrous creature who can perform the most amazing deeds with his horn – to the delight of the beneficiaries, though to the great annoyance of the gods. Because the latter are of the opinion that such power is reserved for them alone, Unico is to go into lonely exile, namely to the Hill of Oblivion. But when they commission the West Wind to take Unico there, the latter cannot bring himself to do it and takes Unico on a journey, always hoping that Unico will never be noticed by the gods again. A long journey with many adventures and new acquaintances begins for Unico.

At the first stopover, he meets the little devil Beezel in a castle, who covets Unico’s horn. But when the little unicorn is in great distress, even the little devil shows a big heart. Unico also meets Chao, the cat, who lives with an old woman and would love to be a human being. But no sooner has Unico granted her this wish than it doesn’t take long for Chao to tire of her new job. When Chao meets a young, attractive baron, she falls for his charm and has no idea of the danger he poses. So it’s up to Unico to put the naive Chao out of her misery – but can he do it alone?

Das kleine Einhorn Unico ist ein so gutherziges wie wundersames Wesen, das mit seinem Horn die tollsten Taten vollbringen kann – zur Freude der Begünstigten, aber zum großen Ärger der Götter. Weil Letztere der Meinung sind, solche Macht ist allein ihnen vorbehalten, soll Unico ins einsame Exil, und zwar auf den Hügel des Vergessens. Doch als sie den Westwind beauftragen, Unico dorthin zu verfrachten, bringt dieser es nicht über sich und nimmt Unico mit an andere Orte, immer in der Hoffnung, dass Unico den Göttern nie mehr auffällt. Für den beginnt eine lange Reise, die neben neuen Bekanntschaften so manches Abenteuer mit sich bringt.

Bereits auf dem ersten Zwischenhalt begegnet das unschuldige Wesen in einem Schloss dem kleinen Teufel Beezel, der das Horn von Unico begehrt. Doch als das kleine Einhorn in große Not gerät, beweist selbst das Teufelchen, dass es ein großes Herz besitzt. Unico begegnet auch der Katze Katy, die bei einer alten Frau wohnt und so gern ein Mensch wäre. Doch kaum hat Unico ihr diesen Wunsch erfüllt, dauert es nicht lange, bis Katy ihrer neuen Arbeit überdrüssig wird. Als Katy einem jungen, attraktiven Baron begegnet, verfällt sie seinem Charme und ahnt nichts von der Gefahr, die von ihm ausgebt. So liegt es an Unico, die naiven Katy aus ihre Misere zu befreien – doch kann er das allein bewältigen?
