One Piece: Episode of Luffy - Hand Island no Bouken (2012)

In “One Piece: Episode of Luffy - Hand Island no Bouken”, the Strawhat Pirates come under fire from the Marines again, this time led by Commodore Bilić. The Thousand Sunny does well at first, but when a projectile threatens to sink it, the pirates have no choice but to escape through a breakneck manoeuvre. However, this leads to a crash landing on a nearby island. While Franky repairs the ship, the remaining straw-hatted pirates discover that there is a shortage of everything on the island. Even stranger is the fact only women, children and old men seem to live there. During his exploration, Luffy meets the gifted wax maker Diego, whose son joined the Marines some time ago.

Luffy and his friends soon discover that Bilić has shamelessly exploited the once precarious situation of the islanders and has since held numerous islanders hostage in the naval base there – thanks to a huge cannon. The Straw Hat Pirates and Diego join forces to render Bilić and his cannon harmless.

Annotation:
This episode, like the other “Episode of” specials, also features old scenes in newly animated form. This time, the first volume of the manga, which focuses on Luffy and Shanks getting to know each other, was adapted again, but the result only takes up a part of this special.

In »One Piece: Episode of Ruffy – Abenteuer auf Hand Island« geraten die Strohhut-Piratenbande einmal mehr unter Beschuss der Marine, diesmal geführt von Flottillenadmiral Bilić. Zwar schlägt sich die Thousand Sunny zunächst gut, aber als durch ein riesiges Geschoss die Versenkung droht, bleibt den Piraten nur die Flucht durch ein halsbrecherisches Manöver. Das führt allerdings zu einer Bruchlandung auf einer nahe gelegenen Insel. Während Franky das Schiff repariert, müssen die restlichen Strohhut-Piraten feststellen, dass auf der Insel ein Mangel an allem herrscht. Noch seltsamer ist der Umstand, dass nur Frauen, Kinder und alte Männer dort zu leben scheinen. Während seiner Erkundung trifft Ruffy auf den begnadeten Wachsmacher Diego, dessen Sohn vor einiger Zeit der Marine beigetreten ist.

Ruffy und seine Freunde stellen bald fest, dass Bilić die einst prekäre Situation der Inselbewohner schamlos ausgenutzt hat und seitdem zahlreiche Inselbewohner als Geiseln in der dortigen Marinebasis hält – dank einer riesigen Kanone. Die Strohhut-Piraten und Diego schließen sich zusammen, um Bilić und seine Kanone unschädlich zu machen.

Anmerkung:
Diese Episode zeigt wie die anderen »Episode of«-Specials ebenfalls alte Szenen in neu animierter Form. Diesmal wurde der erste Band des Mangas, der Ruffys und Shanks’ Kennenlernen thematisiert, erneut umgesetzt, allerdings nimmt das Ergebnis nur einen Teil des Specials ein.
