When They Cry Rei (2009)

At the start it would appear that this story will only be about fun and good moments for the "club" members, but after a brief fun during the first ova, the story turns out to be more deep and tense. Rika now feels strange and distant. And even feels that the same tragedies of the "past times" will occur, feeling that destiny is something that can’t be changed in the end. She thinks about getting involved and try to solve those mistakes or just giving up to that tragic destiny.

In der OVA wird ein ernsterer dreiteiliger Arc von zwei Comedy-Episoden eingerahmt, die eine Parodie auf die beiden Higurashi-Staffeln darstellen. In beiden Fällen geht es um magische Gegenstände, die wegen „interessanten“ Nebenwirkungen einiges an Wirbel verursachen.

Dazwischen gerät Rika Furude jedoch unvermittelt in ein Hinamizawa, wie sie es noch nie erlebt hat. Wichtige Elemente, die bisher in allen Wiederholungen der Ereignisse vor dem Watanagashi-Fest präsent waren, scheinen plötzlich zu fehlen, Personen verhalten sich anders und obwohl alles so friedlich scheint, beunruhigt sie dieser Umstand mehr als alles andere. Bei der Lösung dieses Rätsels ist sie auf sich allein gestellt, und bald wird ihr bewusst, dass sie eine Entscheidung treffen muss …
