The Great Adventures of Robin Hood (1990)

It is the 13th century in England. In the county of Nottingham, the tyrannical Lord Alwine and Bishop Herford have seized all power. The victims of their greed for influence and wealth are innocent people. Robert Huntington, who has lost his parents through mysterious circumstances, also experiences this in a painful way when Lord Alwine’s soldiers reduce his castle to rubble. Robert then flees with his cousins Will, Winnifred and Barbara to nearby Sherwood Forest, where they are initially on their own.

But soon, they meet not only the friendly Friar Tuck, who is fond of the children and tries to help them but also Little John, Mutch and their gang. When they meet the noblewoman Marian Lancaster, who is to be forcibly adopted by Bishop Herford, Robin, who has fallen in love with Marian, decides to help her. From then on, they not only have to fight the nasty soldiers of Lord Alwine but are also pursued by the somewhat headstrong knight Gilbert, who is close on the heels of the children on behalf of the lord. Gilbert not only wants to settle a personal score with Robin but has also fallen madly in love with Marian.

Die Opfer ihrer Gier nach Einfluss und Reichtum sind unschuldige Menschen. Das bekommt auch Robert Huntington, der durch mysteriöse Umstände seine Eltern verloren hat, auf schmerzhafte Weise zu spüren, als Lord Alwines Soldaten sein Schloss in Schutt und Asche legen. Robert flüchtet daraufhin mit seinem Cousin Will und seinen beiden Cousinen Winnifred und Barbara in den nahegelegenen Sherwood Forest, wo sie zunächst auf sich allein gestellt sind.

Doch schon bald treffen sie dort nicht nur auf den freundlichen Bruder Tuck, der die Kinder in sein Herz schließt und versucht, ihnen zu helfen, sondern auch Little John, Mutch und ihre Sherwood-Bande. Als ihnen die Adlige Marian Lancaster begegnet, die von Bischof Herford zwangsadoptiert werden soll, beschließt Robin, der sich in Marian verliebt hat, ihr zu helfen. Von da an müssen sie nicht nur gegen die fiesen Soldaten des Lord Alwine kämpfen, sondern werden auch noch vom etwas eigensinnigen Ritter Gilbert verfolgt, der im Auftrag des Lords den Kindern dicht auf den Fersen ist. Dieser will nicht nur eine persönliche Rechnung mit Robin begleichen, sondern hat sich ebenfalls unsterblich in Marian verliebt.
