It has been fifteen years since “the poison that will destroy the world” was born. An ancient prophecy predicts that Pacifica Casull will destroy the world on her sixteenth birthday. That is why she was thrown into a ravine as a baby, in the hope that this would prevent the prophecy from coming true. Miraculously, Pacifica survived and was adopted by a magical family.

Now, as her sixteenth birthday approaches, she is on the run with her stepbrother Shannon – an excellent swordsman – and her stepsister Raquel who has distinct magical abilities. In a world where the Church of Mauser practically pulls all the strings, the trio repeatedly encounters hostility and Pacifica finds herself constantly in mortal danger. Nevertheless, the three also meet friendly people time and time again, such as the “knight” Leo, who falls in love with Pacifica on the spot. Together they try to escape their fate and fight the evil forces.

Fünfzehn Jahre ist es her, seit »Das Gift, welches die Welt vernichten wird«, geboren wurde. Eine uralte Prophezeiung sagt nämlich voraus, dass Pacifica Casull an ihrem sechzehnten Geburtstag die Welt zerstören wird. Darum wurde sie als Baby in eine Schlucht geworfen, in der Hoffnung, das Eintreten der Prophezeiung dadurch zu verhindern. Wie durch ein Wunder überlebte Pacifica und wurde von einer Magierfamilie adoptiert.

Nun, da ihr sechzehnter Geburtstag immer näher rückt, ist sie mit ihrem Stiefbruder Shannon – einem ausgezeichneten Schwertkämpfer – und ihrer Stiefschwester Raquel – die ausgeprägte magische Fähigkeiten besitzt – auf der Flucht. In einer Welt, in der die Kirche Mausers praktisch alle Fäden in der Hand hält, stößt das Trio immer wieder auf Feindseligkeit und Pacifica befindet sich ständig in Lebensgefahr. Trotzdem treffen die drei auch immer wieder auf freundliche Menschen, wie zum Beispiel den »Ritter« Leo, der sich kurzerhand in Pacifica verliebt. Zusammen versuchen sie, ihrem Schicksal zu entkommen und gegen die bösen Mächte anzukämpfen.
