Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam (1985)

Seven years after the end of the One Year War, in the year U.C. 0087, there is peace. As traces of the Zeon Empire are still left, the Earth Federation has founded the Titans organisation. The organisation is ruthless in its repressive measures against the colonies and their inhabitants and does not even shy away from poison gas.

Kamille Bidan is a teenager who lives in the colony Green Noa 1 and hates his feminine-sounding name almost as much as the Titans. When he clashes with a group of such Titans and injures one of their members, he faces the risk of receiving a life sentence. As the situation worsens due to the young man’s temper, a new Gundam crashes into the building as part of a test – the RX-178 Gundam Mk-II. For Kamille, the incident means an opportunity to escape. When his colony comes under fire, led by Lieutenant Quattro Bajeena, the boy is soon presented with the opportunity to steal and pilot an Mk-II to take on the Titans.

It turns out that Quattro is part of the Anti-Earth Union Group (AEUG), which is taking action against the Earth Federation and, in particular, the disgraceful behaviour of the Titans in order to stand up for the rights of the colonies. Kamille finally has the chance to stop standing idly by when it turns out he is a Newtype. As he is, therefore, gifted with excellent piloting skills, he is soon thrown right into the centre of the action.

Sieben Jahren nach Ende des Einjährigen Kriegs im Jahr U.C. 0087 herrscht zwar Frieden, aber weil noch nicht alle Spuren des Zeon-Reiches beseitigt wurden, hatte die Erdföderation die Organisation Titans gegründet. Die geht in ihren Unterdrückungsmaßnahmen rücksichtslos gegen die Kolonien und ihre Einwohner vor und schreckt selbst vor Giftgas nicht zurück.

Kamille Bidan ist ein Jugendlicher, der in der Kolonie Green Noa 1 wohnt und seinen weiblich klingenden Namen fast so sehr hasst wie die Titans. Weil er mit einer Gruppe solcher Titans aneinandergerät und einen verletzt, könnte ihm eine lebenslange Haftstrafe drohen. Als sich die Situation für den jungen Mann aufgrund seines Jähzorns verschlechtert, kracht im Rahmen eines Testes ein neuer Gundam in das Gebäude – der RX-178 Gundam Mk-II. Für Kamille bedeutet der Vorfall eine Fluchtmöglichkeit, und als seine Kolonie unter Beschuss gerät, unter der Führung von Leutnant Quattro Bajeena, ergibt sich für den Jungen bald die Möglichkeit, einen Mk-II zu stehlen und zu pilotieren, um so gegen die Titans vorgehen zu können.

Es stellt sich heraus, dass Quattro zur Anti Earth Union Group (AEUG) gehört, die gegen die Erdföderation und insbesondere das schändliche Verhalten der Titans vorgehen, um für die Rechte der Kolonien einzustehen. Für Kamille bietet sich endlich die Gelegenheit, nicht mehr tatenlos zusehen zu müssen. Weil sich herausstellt, dass er ein Newtype ist und damit exzellente Pilotenfähigkeiten besitzt, wird er schon bald direkt in den Mittelpunkt des Geschehens geworfen.
