Resident Evil: Oscuridad infinita (2021)

Years ago, Claire Redfield escaped the zombie hell of Raccoon City. Ever since, she has been trying to forget about those horrific incidents. In the meantime, she works at TerraSave, an organisation that defends human rights and provides aid in regions ravaged by terrorism, be it through supplies or another form of help. Now she finds herself in the country of Penamstan, which has experienced years of civil war. As Claire travels through the troubled area, she meets a war-torn boy who shows her a picture of an incident that happened six years ago. The picture shows a number of people eating each other … No wonder, Claire is quite disturbed, as she vividly reminds her of the accidents in Raccoon City.

Only a short time later, the White House becomes the victim of a hacker attack – an attack that comes from inside the building. Several agents, including Leon S. Kennedy, are sent to investigate the incident but discover that the assassin has been infected with a strange virus and is practically acting like a zombie. Leon and Claire meet again and soon realise that they might be facing another attack with a biological weapon: another encounter with hordes of zombies.

Vor Jahren entkam Claire Redfield der Zombiehölle von Raccoon City und hat seitdem versucht, diese schrecklichen Vorfälle hinter sich zu lassen. Mittlerweile arbeitet sie bei TerraSave, einer Organisation, die sich für Menschenrechte einsetzt und in von Terrorismus gebeutelten Regionen Hilfe leistet – sei es durch Vorräte oder menschlichen Arbeitseinsatz. Nun verschlägt es sie ins Land Penamstan, das einen jahrelangen Bürgerkrieg hinter sich hat. Als Claire im Krisengebiet unterwegs ist, trifft sie einen vom Krieg gezeichneten Jungen, der ihr ein Bild eines sechs Jahre zurückliegenden Vorfalls zeigt. Auf diesem sieht man etliche Menschen, die sich gegenseitig auffressen – kein Wunder also, dass Claire ziemlich verstört ist, erinnert sie das doch lebhaft an die Zombies von Raccoon City.

Nur wenig später wird das Weiße Haus Opfer eines Hacker-Angriffs – eines Angriffs, der aus dem Inneren des Gebäudes kommt. Mehrere Agenten, darunter auch Leon S. Kennedy, sollen diesen Vorfall aufklären, müssen dabei aber feststellen, dass der Attentäter mit einem seltsamen Virus infiziert ist und sich praktisch wie ein Zombie verhält. Leon und Claire begegnen sich erneut und erkennen bald, dass ihnen womöglich ein weiterer Angriff mit einer biologischen Waffe bevorstehen könnte – eine weitere Begegnung mit Horden von Zombies.
