Love Live! Sunshine!! The School Idol Movie: Over the Rainbow (2019)

The last school year at the Uranohoshi Girls High School was marked by ups and downs because, although the idol group Aquors around Chika won the final of the Love Live!, they did not attract enough students to their school beforehand, so the announced closure inevitably followed.

But the girls of Aquors don’t let it get them down that easily: Although Dia, Mari, and Kanan are about to graduate and are, therefore, no longer part of the group, the remaining six still don’t want to quit. It’s not that easy for them, though, because their new school building is pretty run-down and also belongs to Seishin High School, which is supposed to act as a catch-all for all the students so that they don’t distract the established clubs too much at the actual school. No wonder Chika and her friends are a bit indignant …

As things get progressively worse for Aquors, Mari’s mother, of all people, shows up and sends the six girls to Italy. Her daughter, Dia and Kanan have allegedly disappeared during a school trip, and her former idol group colleagues are now supposed to fix it. Will the nine girls meet again? And will things soon get better for Aquors?

Das letzte Schuljahr an der Uranohoshi-Mädchen-Oberschule war geprägt von Höhen und Tiefen, denn obwohl die Idolgruppe Aquors rund um Chika das Finale des Wettbewerbs Love Live! für sich entscheiden konnte, ist es ihnen zuvor nicht gelungen, genügend Schülerinnen für ihre Schule zu gewinnen, sodass die angekündigte Schließung unvermeidlich folgte.

Aber so leicht lassen sich die Mädchen von Aquors nicht unterkriegen: Zwar stehen Dia, Mari und Kanan nun kurz vorm Abschluss und sind daher auch nicht mehr Teil der Gruppe, doch die verbleibenden sechs wollen dennoch nicht aufhören. So leicht wird’s ihnen allerdings nicht gemacht, denn ihr neues Schulgebäude ist ziemlich heruntergekommen und gehört zudem zur Seishin-Oberschule, die als Auffangbecken für all die Schülerinnen sorgen soll, damit sie an der eigentlich Schule nicht die etablierten Clubs zu sehr ablenken. Kein Wunder, dass Chika und ihre Freundinnen etwas empört sind …

Als die Dinge für Aquors zunehmend schlechter laufen, taucht ausgerechnet Maris Mutter auf und schickt die sechs Mädchen nach Italien. Ihre Tochter sowie Dia und Kanan sind angeblich während eines Schulausflugs verschwunden und ihre einstigen Idol-Kolleginnen sollen es jetzt richten. Werden die neun Mädchen sich wiedersehen? Und wird es mit Aquors bald wieder bergauf gehen?
