Utena, la Chica Revolucionaria: Apocalipsis Adolescente (1999)

“Revolutionary Girl Utena: The Adolescence of Utena” is about Utena Tenjou, a girl full of ideals and high aims, who is newly admitted to the Ohtori Academy, where she is first mistaken for a boy due to her manly clothes.. Unexpectedly, she meets her old love Touga Kiryuu, who claims to have also been led there by a rose seal. Utena then gets hold of such a seal in the form of a ring, and the spiral continues, where she meets Anthy Himemiya, the rose bride. Whoever possesses her gains the power to revolutionise the world, and to get her, one must compete in a sword duel. Without knowing exactly why, Utena throws herself into this dangerous game, and it soon becomes clear that she and Anthy must overcome their own pasts in order to find a new future for themselves.

Annotation:
The film for the series “Shoujo Kakumei Utena” neither continues the plot nor is it to be integrated into the 39 episodes of the series, instead telling the story in an alternative version. The goal is to present familiar characters in a new light, focusing primarily on Utena, Anthy and their princes.

»Utena: La fillette révolutionnaire - The Movie« handelt von Utena Tenjou, einem Mädchen voller Ideale und mit hohen Zielen, das neu an die Ohtori-Akademie kommt, wo sie dank ihrer Kleidung zuerst für einen Jungen gehalten wird. Unverhofft trifft sie dort ihre alte Liebe Touga Kiryuu, der behauptet, durch ein Rosensiegel ebenfalls dorthin geführt worden zu sein. Wortwörtlich durch die Blume gelangt auch Utena an so ein Siegel in Form eines Ringes und schon dreht sich die Spirale weiter, in der sie Anthy Himemiya trifft, die Rosenbraut. Wer sie besitzt, erlangt die Macht die Welt zu revolutionieren, und um sie zu bekommen, muss man sich in einem Schwertduell messen. Ohne genau zu wissen warum, stürzt sich Utena in dieses gefährliche Spiel und bald wird klar, dass sie und Anthy ihre eigene Vergangenheit bewältigen müssen, um eine neue Zukunft für sich zu finden.

Anmerkung:
Der Film zur Serie »Shoujo Kakumei Utena« führt die Handlung weder fort noch ist er in die 39 Episoden der Serie einzugliedern, stattdessen erzählt die Geschichte in einer alternativen Version. Er macht es sich zur Aufgabe, bekannte Figuren in neuem Licht zu präsentieren und konzentriert sich dabei vor allem auf Utena, Anthy und ihre Prinzen.
