Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt (2015)

“Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt” is set in the year U.C. 0079 during the One Year War. The Thunderbolt Sector becomes the scene of a conflict between the Earth Federation and the Principality of Zeon. This sector was home to the Moore Space Colony until recently, when it was destroyed by Zeon. Now the sector is full of the remains of old colonies, electrical discharges are common – and yet, it is important to Zeon as a supply route. The Moore Brotherhood, consisting of survivors of the destroyed colony, however, does not admit defeat and launches an attack on the Living Dead Division, which occupies this sector; a fierce battle ensues.

At the centre is Io Fleming, pilot of the Moore Brotherhood, who is targeted by the Zeon sniper, Daryl Lorenz, but initially manages to escape. A duel breaks out between the two, in which mobile suits are soon used: Io operates the Full Armor Gundam, while Zeon uses an experimental unit equipped with a system called Reuse P Device. Through this, the pilot can control the giant robot by the power of his mind. Can Io stand up to such an opponent and help his group to victory?

»Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt« spielt im Jahre U.C. 0079, zur Zeit des Einjährigen Krieges. Der Thunderbolt-Sektor wird zum Schauplatz eines Konfliktes zwischen der Erdföderation und dem Fürstentum Zeon. Dieser Sektor beheimatete bis vor Kurzem die Weltraumkolonie Moore, doch diese wurde durch Zeon zerstört. Nun ist der Sektor voller Überreste alter Kolonien, elektrische Entladungen sind an der Tagesordnung – und dennoch ist er für Zeon wichtig als Versorgungsroute. Die Moore Brotherhood, bestehend aus Überlebenden der zerstörten Kolonie, gibt sich jedoch nicht geschlagen und startet einen Angriff auf die Living Dead Division, die diesen Sektor besetzt; ein erbitterter Kampf entfacht.

Im Mittelpunkt steht Io Fleming, Pilot der Moore Brotherhood, der vom zeonischen Scharfschützen Daryl Lorenz aufs Korn genommen wird, aber zunächst entkommen kann. Zwischen den beiden entbrennt ein Zweikampf, bei dem schon bald Mobile Suits zum Einsatz kommen: Io bedient den Full Armor Gundam, während auf Seiten Zeons eine experimentelle Einheit eingesetzt wird, die mit einem System namens Reuse P Device versehen ist. Durch dieses kann der Pilot den riesigen Roboter mit der Kraft seiner Gedanken steuern. Kann Io gegen einen solchen Gegner bestehen und seiner Gruppierung zum Sieg verhelfen?
