Aria the Scarlet Ammo AA (2015)

Akari Mamiya is completing her first year as a student at Tokyo Butei High School. There, young people are trained to become a combat-capable mix of detective and mercenary. However, Akari has a problem: she has been categorised as rank E, the lowest of all. This is all the more unfavourable because she secretly admires her older classmate Aria Kanzaki and would love to become her so-called “Amica”. The system of the same name ensures that an older and a younger student work together for a year for the benefit of the younger student’s education. Akari’s chances are slim – after all, Aria holds the illustrious rank of S – and yet Aria gives young Akari a chance to prove herself during an exam.

Akari does neither manage to complete the task nor fail completely, which is why Aria does not officially make her an Amica but is willing to train her. On one hand, the young high school student must now improve quickly in order to prove herself worthy of Aria. On the other hand, her classmates are already enough of a distraction: the tomboyish Raika, for example, has been friends with Akari since her middle school days, is adored by many and yet takes insinuations about her boyish nature to heart. Shino, on the other hand, has recently developed an obsessive devotion to Akari and would do anything to get her away from Aria.

Akari Mamiya absolviert ihr erstes Jahr als Schülerin an der Tokio-Butei-Oberschule. Dort werden Jugendliche zu einer kampffähigen Mischung aus Detektiv und Söldner ausgebildet. Akari hat allerdings ein Problem: Sie wurde als Rang E eingestuft, dem niedrigsten überhaupt. Das ist umso ungünstiger, weil sie heimlich ihr ältere Mitschülerin Aria Kanzaki bewundert und zu gern deren sogenannte »Amica« werden möchte. Das gleichnamige System sorgt dafür, dass ein ältere und ein jüngerer Schüler zum Wohl der Ausbildung des jüngeren für ein Jahr zusammenarbeiten. Akaris Chance stehen schlecht, schließlich hat Aria den illustren Rang S inne – und doch gibt Aria der jungen Akari eine Chance, sollte sie sich während einer Prüfung bewähren.

Weder schafft es Akari, die Aufgabe ganz zu lösen, noch scheitert sie völlig, weshalb Aria sie zwar noch nicht offiziell zur Amica macht, aber bereit ist, sie auszubilden. Auf der einen Seite muss die junge Oberschülerin nun schnell besser werden, um sich Aria würdig zu erweisen. Auf der anderen Seite stellen ihr Mitschülerinnen schon genug Ablenkung dar: Die burschikose Raika beispielsweise ist seit der Mittelschulzeit mit Akari befreundet, wird von vielen bewundert und nimmt sich dennoch Anzüglichkeiten ob ihrer jungenhaften Art zu Herzen. Shino hingegen hat vor Kurzem eine obsessive Hingabe zu Akari entwickelt und würde alles tun, um sie von Aria loszueisen.
