The Rising of the Shield Hero (2014)

Naofumi Iwatani is an ordinary student. One day, he is transferred to a foreign kingdom with three other students. From then on, the four are known as “the four legendary heroes”. Naofumi is the Shield Hero and is thus considered the weakest of the heroes. Soon he becomes the victim of a plot and finds himself alone, without money, friends and with a battered reputation. All he has left is his shield, and so Naofumi sets out on a journey to take revenge.

Naofumi Iwatani ist ein einfacher Student. Eines Tages wird er mit drei anderen Studenten in ein fremdes Königreich transferiert. Fortan sind die vier als „die vier Helden“ bekannt. Naofumi ist der Held des Schildes und gilt somit als Schwächster der Helden. Schon bald wird er Opfer eines Komplotts und findet sich allein wieder, ohne Geld, Freunde und mit einem ramponierten Ruf. Alles was ihm bleibt, ist sein Schild, und so macht sich Naofumi auf die Reise, sich zu rächen.

Naofumi è un otaku senza interessi oltre a videogiochi e manga, e la sua esistenza si trascina nella più completa banalità. Finché, misteriosamente, lui ed altre tre persone vengono evocati in una dimensione parallela... per assumere il ruolo di eroi di quel mondo! Ognuno degli eroi viene equipaggiato con un’arma leggendaria e a Naofumi tocca il magico scudo: basterà a fornire al ragazzo il carisma e il coraggio che gli mancano per fare di lui un vero paladino? Stando al difficile inizio della sua avventura, per Naofumi sembrano prospettarsi solo delusioni e arrabbiature!
