Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. 2nd GIG (2004)

2030 is not a good year for Motoko Kusanagi. Man and machine are almost one, making individuals accessible to criminal machinations. So Motoko has her hands full as she fights rampant crime in the elite Section 9 unit of the Japanese Ministry of the Interior. Motoko, herself more cyborg than human, has to deal with manipulated politicians, ruthless hackers and crazy robots – in other words, everything that belongs to a “cybertised” world. In the end, the question is what actually constitutes human existence, where it begins and where it ends.

2030 ist kein gutes Jahr für Motoko Kusanagi. Mensch und Maschine sind beinahe eins und macht die Individuen zugänglich für kriminelle Energien. Alle Hände voll zu tun also für Motoko, die in der Eliteeinheit Sektion 9 des japanischen Innenministeriums die grassierende Kriminalität bekämpfen soll. Motoko, selbst mehr Cyborg als Mensch, kriegt es dabei mit manipulierten Politikern, rücksichtslosen Hackern und durchgedrehten Robotern zu tun – also alles, was zu einer »cybertisierten« Welt dazu gehört. Am Ende steht dabei die Frage, was das menschliche Dasein eigentlich ausmacht, wo es anfängt und wo es aufhört.
