Aggretsuko: Temporada 5 (2023)

The relationship between Retsuko and Haida, which was not entirely clear anyway, received a major blow when it became increasingly clear that Haida was deliberately inflating the company’s profits. After Retsuko and her colleagues found out the truth and confronted Haida, the latter showed greatness and made sure that his boss, Himuro, had to vacate his position as the person responsible.

As much as Haida showed greatness, it cost him because he, too, was kicked out of the company. Now unemployed, he doesn’t know what to do with his time. So he spends his money in an MMORPG and meets fellow player Shikabane there. When Haida is suddenly threatened with homelessness, and Retsuko tells him she won’t see him again until he gets back to work, he is devastated.

Things don’t exactly take a positive turn after that: Shikabane turns out to be a woman, and even Retsuko’s entourage notices that the two spend quite a bit of time together. Retsuko almost reluctantly makes a decision, but this is only the prelude to a whole series of problems. Can the two find happiness together despite everything?

Das ohnehin nicht ganz klare Verhältnis zwischen Retsuko und Haida erhielt einen gehörigen Dämpfer, als immer deutlicher wurde, dass Haida die Höhe der Unternehmensgewinne absichtlich aufblähte. Nachdem Retsuko und ihre Kollegen die Wahrheit herausgefunden und Haida zur Rede gestellt hatten, zeigt der Größe und sorgte dafür, dass sein Chef Himuro als Verantwortlicher seinen Platz räumen musste.

So sehr Haida auch Größe bewiesen hat, so viel hat es ihn gekostet, denn auch er ist aus dem Unternehmen geflogen. Als Arbeitsloser weiß er nun nicht, was mit seiner Zeit anzufangen. Daher verballert er sein Geld in einem MMORPG und lernt dort auch den Mitspieler Shikabane kennen. Als Haida plötzlich auch noch die Obdachlosigkeit droht und Retsuko ihm knallhart mitteilt, sie sehe ihn erst wieder, wenn er wieder arbeitet, ist er erst mal am Boden zerstört.

Die Dinge entwickeln sich danach auch nicht gerade zum Positiven: Shikabane entpuppt sich als Frau und selbst Retsukos Umfeld bemerkt, dass die beiden nicht wenig Zeit miteinander verbringen. Retsuko fast widerwillig einen Entschluss, doch der ist nur der Auftakt zu einer ganzen Reihe von Problemen. Können die beiden trotz allem ihr gemeinsames Glück finden?
